UNISON stewards will be available to our new student members to set up our Student Nurse Network, we hope this will provide a forum for our student nurses to discuss any issues they have with placements, clinical issues and anything else.....
With the health service entering difficult times, we hope to provide a supportive network, offering safety and confidentiality which will meet on a regular basis and will have nursing based stewards in attendance for advice and guidance on professional and clinical issues.
Unison has stewards based within the main hospitals within NHS Grampian and these can be contacted through our town based Resource Centre which houses our Regional Officers, Regional and Area Organisers who will put you in contact with the steward best equipped to advise you. We also hope for some of our members who have an interest in the trade union movement to become more active within their branch, as a health and safety rep, a steward or a workplace contact.
Our stewards are currently involved in working in partnership with NHS Grampian, ensuring that our staff are adequately represented within the organisation. We are the union who has campaigned for salaried student nurses, thus enabling students to concentrate on their studies rather than working to supplement the meagre bursary or student loan.
PAY NOT POVERTY
We are the union who succeeded in achieving maternity rights for student nurses.
We are the union who has a registered charity offering legal and debt advice, financial assistance, personal advice or even just listening and support.
Watch this space for updates on any current issues and the first Student Nurse Network meeting time and place, all Unison nursing students welcome including those who wish to join up.
